Picathartes by Paleona Picathartes by Paleona
I've been fascinated with animals since I was very young, but watching documentaries narrated (and written) by David Attenborough has really enhanced my appreciation and understanding of the natural world. So, here's a small pic to honor his career! Picathartes gymnocephalus was the focal point of his first foray into filming wildlife, in the nature documentary Zoo Quest (circa 1954).

My personal favorite series of his include The Life of Birds, Life in the Undergrowth, and The Private Life of Plants. I highly recommend them!

Thanks for looking!

Drawn in PSE 7.

Thanks! I actually watch way more of them now as an adult. BBC docs are always great, but I also love the "Nature" series, and have found some good ones on Netflix. (I think I mentioned that dolphin one to you before?)

Steve Irwin has a special place in many of our childhoods, I think. :') His love for all creatures was infectious! ❤

Yeah! The dolphin documentary on Netflix saved me from art block last year XD I'd like to see more sea life documentaries soon too.

True true ;0;

They're a pretty cool species! Birds are (possibly) my favorite group of animals.

I feel like I must be the only person who hasn't watched a David Attenborough documentary while growing up! I had to look him up after reading about the research ship that was named after him.

I actually never got to see any growing up! I don't think they were televised very frequently here in the states. My first real encounter with his work was in 2010, watching Life of Mammals on Netflix- I've been hooked ever since!
(He's had loads of animals named after him, too, including a pliosaur (Attenborosaurus)).
